Southeast Asia correspondent for Slovak Radio
September 2010 - January 2014

Foreign correspondent for Slovak Radio, covering Southeast Asia and often also the wider region of Asia.
As a sole Slovak correspondent in the Asian region, I used to cover whole range of issues including breaking news, politics, economy, society, culture, religion.
My work consisted of mainly news soundbites for the News headlines broadcast, with deeper analysis and special reports occurring on periodic broadcast shows. While pursuing graduate studies of international relations, I had also been specializing in commentaries on geopolitics and current developments in Asia for broadcast and also live debates.
Topics I personally enjoyed covering included human rights, environment, sustainable development, humanitarian issues, women's and LGBT rights, climate change and green economy.

Foreign news writer at Slovak Radio

September 2008 - August 2010

As a permanent member of Foreign News department of Slovak Radio, I was writer focused on wide range of topics, most often breaking news, and sometimes also abroad travelling reporter covering issues in European countries.
As far as I could specialize in covering 'the world' from a Bratislava office, I was interested in Middle East affairs, Northern Africa, Africa and Arabic countries.
Speaking fluent French I used to travel to France to cover culture-related stories for European union focused broadcast shows and series. In this project I have produced fifteen radio features on three French minority languages as well as another fifteen on three European Union agencies in France.
I have also regularly covered state visits of foreign representatives to Slovakia along with conferences such as informal NATO meeting in Bratislava in 2009.

Foreign news reporter at news television TA3

January 2008 - July 2008

Member of foreign news desk at TA3 - the first and sole news television in Slovakia.
The scarce resources of the television meant most of the work done was re-editing news coverage of Reuters and other agencies, work with the footage provided and then collect information from other news sources to create own commentary to the videos. There was limited space for self-specialization in a particular world region or field.
Even with limited opportunities to go in the field and cover abroad, this job has enhanced my TV journalism skills as well strengthened the ability to work with limited resources and under TV, live pressure.
During the seven months in the job I also got a chance to produce two reports 'in the field'. A state visit of foreign representative and an analysis of Russian-Georgian dispute in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, for which I interviewed Russian and Georgian representatives in Bratislava. This was an opportunity to use camera and stand-up skills studied in journalism school.

Internship at Foreign news desk at SME - nationwide daily

October 2006 - June 2007

As an intern at SME, one of the most respected nationwide dailies in Slovakia, I had the opportunity to learn basics of print journalism along creative writing, using various news agencies as sources. The constant struggle of limited press space taught me the much needed efficient news writing and getting to the point.

This was my first and best experience of learning in a professional environment from people with great knowledge on world affairs.

Education
MRG International: Minorities in the News
May - June 2015

Online course for journalists about minority and indigenous rights, which resulted in a field trip to Kenya to research and experience the life of Maasai indigenous people and Ogiek indigenous tribe, with a special focus given on female genital mutilation.

Faculty of Political Science, Thammasat university
JUNE 2011 - present
Master of Arts in Political Science, International Relations and Affairs

The Master in International Relations program is an extensive IR course, in which I have gained general knowledge of global affairs in various academic theories as well as fields of study. The focus was equally provided on state, international institutions and regimes and non-governmental sector, lectured by various Thai and foreign professors, educated around Asia and the West, too. The academic knowledge was more often than not supported by guest-speakers professionally active 'in the field' ranging from all spectra of politics and society. This gave much needed 'practical' insight into how international relations and global arena work. The opportunities given by the Faculty to travel abroad and create student and academic bonds helped gain experience in the Asian academia. Therefore I wish to stay active in research and proceed with my studies for PhD.
